Treason formed in 1981 and began playing bars in the Montgomery and Bucks county area. The band quickly became popular in numerous local bars including the “Swamp Fox”, “Harleysville Hotel”, and "Toland's Tavern”. Russ Downey joined Treason in 1982 to replace Brad. Russ was a truly talented drummer (and singer). Together with Doug’s rock solid bass playing they laid the foundation for Treason’s live sound for many years to come. In 1983 & 1984 the band played at Larry Surma’s place for an outdoor party. In 2005 & 2006 Larry invited Treason to once again rock Red Hill at one of his now legendary outdoor parties.
